SAP NetWeaver is a collection of components, tools, and applications. In this section, we will discuss SAP NetWeaver components that are as below:
1.1 SAP NetWeaver Server
The application foundation layer of SAP NetWeaver consists of two main servers. One is SAP NetWeaver Application Server -ABAP and SAP NetWeaver Application server – JAVA. They are basically application servers that are used to deploy the code of service applications under people, process, and information. These servers provide the support to run, deploy and manage the application.
1.2 SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management
Under the information part of SAP NetWeaver, we have master data management, knowledge management. Master data includes the master data of an organization such as vendor master data, customer master information, company code master data, etc. Knowledge management is like Information management or Google drive data.
1.3 SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse
The information part of the SAP NetWeaver also includes Business Warehouse management. Business Warehouse is just similar to a database that holds all the historical data of the application. BW enables an organization to integrate data from multiple sources in an enterprise and then transforms the data to business information to be used for analysis purpose and decision making.
1.4 SAP NetWeaver Process management
SAP NetWeaver includes process integration, process management, and business rules management under process orchestration. It is a tool we used to integrate applications and BPM, BRM are used to create step by step process to complete end to end integration. SAP NetWeaver process management, including business capabilities, improves processes in an organization to transform them from simple workflows to integrated processes.
1.5 SAP NetWeaver Portal
SAP NetWeaver Portal collaborates the critical data or business information with applications to allow access to users based on their roles or the views they should have access to. It allows making use of the information resources in SAP. SAP NetWeaver also includes an enterprise portal, which is used to build web portals.
1.6 SAP NetWeaver Gateway
SAP is a front-end tool that allows users to access the applications sitting anywhere in the world. For this access to the application, SAP gateway is required. It allows the developers to create and link applications to business users from any environment. Also, they can link through any device using this gateway.
1.7 SAP NetWeaver Identity Management
In any enterprise, access and provision ensure the safety and security of data. SAP NetWeaver identity management component creates an opportunity to integrate business processes with various access assigned through a particular role to users and an identity to all the developers. So, everyone can access only the applications they are allowed to access with secured access. Authentication and authorization are managed by this layer.
1.8 SAP NetWeaver Lifecycle Management
SAP NetWeaver Lifecycle management takes care of how the application is managed until all phases, including requirement, build, test, deployment, run, operation, monitor, and update. This layer also allows you to archive data with an accessible format and allows the retention of the information in the form of historical data.
